Our Next Show is run by Alex Taub. This page describes what the site stores about you, what it is used for, and how to have it removed.
What is stored
Three things, and nothing else.
- Your account. An email address, and the display name your sign-in provider gives us. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name. If you sign in with an emailed link, we only ever have the address you typed.
- Your answers about shows. Which titles you were shown, whether you have seen them, how you felt about them, and whether you want to watch them. This is the entire point of the site: the recommendations are computed from these answers and are worthless without them.
- Your queue. Shows you have saved to watch later, and any note you attached to one.
Cookies are used to keep you signed in and to run the site.
What it is used for
Your answers drive your own recommendations, and they may also be used in aggregated or de-identified form to improve how the site works and to understand what people watch. Nothing that identifies you personally is sold.
Who can see it
Your taste paths are visible to you and to anyone you explicitly invite to a specific path. Nobody else using the site can see them, including other people in the same household on their own account. Access is checked on every request against the list of people invited to that path, not merely at sign-in.
Companies that touch the data
The site is small but it does not run on nothing. These services process data on its behalf, each doing one job:
- Supabase stores the database and runs sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the site and serves the pages.
- Resend delivers sign-in links. It sees your email address and nothing else.
- Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to confirm who you are.
Show information, artwork and air dates come from TMDB. That traffic goes one way: TMDB is asked about television, and is told nothing about you.
Deleting it
Email hello@ournextshow.com and ask. Your account, your answers and your queue are deleted, not archived or anonymised. You do not have to give a reason.
Changes
This page will change as the site does. The date at the top shows when it last did.
